Minimum Guaranteed Class List

The minimum guaranteed class list at DUN is just that: the minimum number of classes that will be run at DUN. All entrants are to use this minimum class list to enter their qualified models. Any classes that have 30 or more entries will be split by the Society to ensure that all entrants have a good chance at being awarded DUN National Grand Champion.

This split also means that there will never be more than 29 models in one class.

New 2015: Exceptions: The DUN Entry Manager will take special consideration of models entered into Grouped Breed classes (of all finishes/sizes) - for example Other Pure Breed. If they determine there may be a lean towards one breed or type of breed in entries, then the class may be split, regardless of the number of models entered in this class. This will also be the case for the Grouped Colour classes (of all finishes/sizes) - for example Black/Bay/Brown. This does not mean that these classes will be split – only that they may be split should entries require this for a fair balance.

This minimum class list method is the same as what is used by the North American Model Horse Shows Association (NAMHSA) for their national show.

As it is impossible to predict the number of entries that will enter at the Down Under Nationals (as opposed to the number that have qualified, but cannot make it to the show), a minimum guaranteed class list is used to help the DUN Registrar and other volunteers in keeping classes as balanced as possible.

Classes at qualifying shows may be limited to size divisions or classes. ‘Open’ refers to divisions/classes that allow all sizes of models to compete against each other; that is, mini models competing against Classic- and Traditional-scale models.

DUN has open classes as well as size-restricted classes. Mini models may be able to enter open classes only if they earned their DUN card in open company. Please see the show packet for further information on determining what your model is qualified for.

Remember, each class is a Championship in its own right. There are no category championships, or overall or superior champions awarded at DUN.
