Become a Society Member

Membership with the Down Under Model Horse Society is a requirement to running a qualifier live show. Becoming a member also has many other benefits.


The membership period runs for two years and begins on the 1st of August of each period as outlined below, and expires on 31st July two years later.

Membership Periods:

  • 1st August 2017 to 31st July 2019
  • 1st August 2019 to 31st July 2021

A member who joins or renews today will have a membership good until 31st July 2019.

How to Join

Hobbyists from all over the world may join. There are several membership types available, with different regulations and benefits.

In addition to the benefits listed below, current members receive possible discounts on future promotional gear and publications.

Join using the online Join form (currently not working; please do not use), by emailing your details to the Secretary, or by printing and mailing the membership form below.

Senior Members

  • Senior members must be 18 years of age or older as of 1st January 2017.
  • They may run any number of National Championship-qualifying live shows (qualifier card fees apply) during their membership period
  • They receive free advertising of said shows in the Society newsletter, on the DUMHS website and via the Society Facebook page.
  • They may compete at any and all National Championship live shows that occur within their membership period, and they will receive discounted entry levies for National Championship shows.
  • They may nominate their models to receive Roll of Merit awards.
  • May nominate themselves for positions on the Committee, and vote at Society General Meetings
  • They will receive the quarterly Society newsletter, and DUN bulletins.

Junior Members

  • Junior members must be under 18 years of age as of 1st January 2017. (If they turn 18 while a junior member, they may choose to upgrade to a Senior membership and pay the difference in fees ($5), or they wait for their membership to expire before upgrading to Senior membership.)
  • They may run any number of National Championship-qualifying live shows (qualifier card fees apply) during their membership period.
  • They receive free advertising of said shows in the DUMHS newsletter and on the DUMHS website.
  • They may compete at any and all National Championship live shows that occur within their membership period, and they will receive discounted entry levies for National Championship shows.
  • They may nominate their models to receive Roll of Merit awards.

Associate Members

  • Associates must be 18 years of age or older as of 1st January 2017.
  • They may compete at any and all National Championship live shows that occur within their membership period, and they will receive discounted entry levies for National Championship shows.
  • They may nominate their models to receive Roll of Merit awards.
  • They will receive the quarterly Society newsletter, and DUN bulletins

Membership Costs

  • Senior: $15
  • Junior: $10
  • Associate: $10

Prices are in AUD. There is an additional charge of $10 AUD per membership period for a printed and mailed version of the newsletter.

When a member joins DUMHS, they will receive the quarterly DUMHS newsletter, and be informed of their membership number via email.

DUMHS Newsletter

The Down Under Model Horse Society newsletter is released quarterly (February, May, August, November) and lists all upcoming qualifying live shows, news on upcoming Society meetings, fundraising news and other information. Upon joining the Society, you may choose whether to have your newsletter emailed or mailed to you. There is a $10 surcharge for mailed newsletters.
